Who we have helped

The Motability Scheme enables over 600,000 disabled people in the UK to enjoy levels of freedom and independence that would otherwise be beyond their reach, by leasing them a suitable and affordable car, powered wheelchair or scooter. The vast majority of people who choose to use the Scheme simply use their mobility allowance, with an additional Advance Payment if required, to lease the vehicle they require.

For customers requiring adaptations or specialised vehicles, the Scheme works hard to bring its prices within the reach of most. Nonetheless, there are still about 8,000 Scheme customers each year who are unable to afford the vehicles, adaptations or driving lessons they need. Motability, as a charity, can help disabled people to join the Scheme who could not otherwise afford to.
