As a national charity, with the objective to help not only those who use the Motability Scheme but all disabled people in the UK, we welcome the report and the insights it provides. We welcome the report’s conclusion that the Motability Scheme is a valued option for many and agree that there are a number of barriers to joining the Scheme for others. I am pleased to inform you that the Prime Minister has kindly accepted my invitation, and is delighted to follow many of his predecessors to become Senior Patron of Motability, of which Her Majesty The Queen has been our Chief Patron since Motability’s very first foundation. The Charity was founded forty three years ago in 1977 by the late Lord Goodman and myself, with all-party support, in order to help disabled people and their families with their mobility. Since its inception the Charity has gone from strength to strength working alongside all Governments.
