What are the timescales for Personal Independence (PIP) reassessments?

The Government is currently in the process of replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for disabled people aged between 16 and 64. If you are awarded the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of PIP you will continue to be able to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair through the Motability Scheme. This process began in April 2013 in Great Britain and from 20 June 2016 in Northern Ireland. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Please remember, you do not need to do anything until the DWP contacts you to make a claim for PIP.

More information about the DWP’s plans for DLA and PIP can be found on the Government’s website: www.gov.uk/personal-independence-payment (opens in a new window) or for Northern Ireland visit: www.nidirect.gov.uk/personal-independence-payment (opens in a new window).
