How to apply for a Charitable Grant

What happens next?

We will talk with you about your personal circumstances and if we may be able to help, we will ask you to complete an online or paper application. Once you have completed your application and provided any supporting documentation that we need, we will contact you within 48 hours to confirm receipt and talk to you about the next steps.

You will get your own Case Manager, who will look after your application throughout the process. The Case Manager will assess your information and work with you to make sure we understand your situation fully, as well as deal with any questions you might have.

Finally, always keep in mind that as well as the possibility of a Charitable Grant, we will explore all the possible options with you, such as extending your current lease (existing Scheme customers only) or offer advice on vehicles and adaptations that are available on the Motability Scheme.

When can you apply?

If you are already a Motability Scheme customer and need to apply for a Charitable Grant towards a replacement car, you can apply at any point from four months before the end of your current lease. If you are applying for a Charitable Grant to replace a WAV, you can apply at any point from six months before the end of your lease.


If you think a funding decision you have received from us has not fully taken account of factors in your application you regard as important, you can ask for us to reconsider by contacting your Case Manager either by telephone or in writing to Motability, Warwick House, Harlow, CM19 5PX.

If you remain unhappy with the decision, this case may be escalated to a Manager.
